AP Govt. to Supply Energy Efficient Appliances for YSR Jagananna Housing Colonies

The Andhra Pradesh state government plans to provide energy efficient electronic appliances to the houses being built under the YSR Jagananna housing scheme. More than 15 lakh houses will be constructed under the YSR Jagananna housing scheme during the first phase. These energy efficient appliances which will be provided by the government are estimated to reduce energy consumption and save ₹3,600 on electricity bills for each house annually. The total annual savings annually is expected to be around ₹540 crores for all houses combined and reduce energy consumption by 167 crore units.

As part of the plan to supply energy efficient appliances, the Andhra Pradesh state government will be supplying 4 LED bulbs, 2 LED tube lights and 2 energy efficient fans to each house. The Housing Minister of Andhra Pradesh Cherukuvada Sri Ranganadha Raju has asked the AP housing department to prepare a special action plan to implement energy efficiency measures & provide energy efficiency appliances to all the 28.3 lakh houses to be built over the next 4 years under the YSR Jagananna Housing Scheme.

The Housing Minister of state for AP held an online virtual conference which was also attended by Special Chief Secretary (Housing) Ajay Jain, AP Housing Corporation Managing Director Narayan Bharat Gupta, Special Secretary (Housing) Rahul Pandey and other senior officials of state. The state housing minister announced the intentions of the state government to prove the effectiveness of their housing schemes and make it a role model for other state & national housing schemes. The housing schemes created by the Andhra Pradesh state govt. do not just focus on construction of house but also on building new townships by providing all necessary basic infrastructure.

The housing schemes by the AP state govt. will also be using energy-efficient construction techniques for beneficiaries who opt for them which will mean better energy savings and lower energy consumption. The Special Chief Secretary (Housing) Ajay Jain stated that the AP state govt. has sanctioned more than 15 lakh houses under the collaboration of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-YSR urban & gramin schemes as part of the first phase. The houses will be constructed in more than 10,000 layouts and work has already begun on 10.7 lakh houses. It is estimated that the unit cost for each house under this scheme will be 1.8 lakhs and the state govt. has set a target to complete construction of the houses under the first phase by June 2022.
