The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, is aiming to provide pucca houses for every homeless Indian citizen so that every Indian has the basic need of a solid roof over their head fulfilled – said Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, Harshdeep Singh Puri. The Minister was interacting with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) on 12th June 2022. Minister Harshdeep Singh Puri has said that more than 20 lakh houses have been sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh under various schemes meant to provide ‘housing for all’.

The Central Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs said “Andhra Pradesh stands first in the country in terms of implementation of the PMAY. If needed, more housing units will be sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh. The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme is benefitting 9 crore people. Three cylinders were given at free of cost under Ujwala Yojana during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The minister interacted extensively with various beneficiaries who were sanctioned funds during the ceremony. One woman informed the minister that she did not have a ration card & the minister immediately ordered corresponding officials to ensure she receives a ration card. The Union Minister transferred more than ₹203 crores to over 42,300 beneficiaries from all across Andhra Pradesh. He also handed over keys to a batch of houses to PMAY beneficiaries of Andhra Pradesh & distributed sanction letters to fresh beneficiaries.
