The acronym FE in the name stands for ‘Fan Edition’ as Samsung says it is a device catered to fans of its flagship electronic devices at a more affordable price point. The newly announced Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G has a lot to offer according to the specifications and lot of expectations to live up to on the back of the success of its predecessor, the S20 FE 5G. Let’s take a peek at what Samsung’s latest smartphone offering has to offer.

The new Galaxy S21 FE 5G will come with a 6.4-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLE-2X-Display with a 120Hz refresh rate and the display will have a touch sampling rate of 240Hz for quick, accurate touch response. The display will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top and has a punch-hole cut-out for the front facing camera. The S21 FE 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chip – the choice of processor for 2021’s top Android flagship phones but rumour has it the Indian version might be shipped with a Samsung Exynos 2100 5G processor.

There are four cameras on the Galaxy S21 FE 5G – a 32MP fixed-focus f/2.2 selfie shooter and a 0.5x-1x-3x combo on the rear. Those are a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide, 12MP 1/1.76-inch f/1.8 main camera with OIS, and an 8MP f/2.4 3x tele. The new S21 FE 5G is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor thanks to Samsung’s Contour Cut Design – in which the camera bump is integrated into the back panel of the phone to give it a slimmer profile. The rear of the phone gets a matte-finished plastic panel.

Samsung’s newest smartphone will be running the company’s latest OneUI4 software on top of Android 12 operating system. The phone will feature an optical under-display fingerprint scanner and misses out on the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that is present on the Galaxy S21 5G which is more accurate and works even if there are scratches or water on the screen. The phone gets stereo speakers with the earpiece speaker doubling as the second speaker and USB-C connectivity for charging and data transfer. The smartphone does not have a 3.5mm audio jack.

The S21 FE 5G will be equipped with a 4500 mAh battery – which Samsung believes will last the average user 2-days of usage without charging. By now, one could probably guess that the smartphone does come with 5G connection compatibilities and whole host of connectivity gizmos – Bluetooth, NFC etc. The device is also rated IP68 for dust & water resistance. The device will be offered with 3 memory options – 128GB + 6GB RAM, 128GB + 8GB RAM and 256GB + 8GB RAM.
